World Bank Releases Highest Tax To GDP Burdens
World Bank has released the world’s highest tax to GDP burdens, four countries from SADC are in the top 10.
South Africa was in center of the stage as they compensate most of the tax for Lesotho, Namibia, Eswatini and Botswana, despite them being number 9 on the list.
A large number of those countries have free education, free healthcare and a larger proportion of the public actually pay tax. Namibia is ranked 3rd highest tax-to-GDP ratio in the world and despite this 30% of the population lives in shacks, 50%+ without access to electricity, 40% without access to toilets, 34% unemployed (45%+ for youth).
This proves that Namibia has a tax rate problem which is diminishing job creations.
