TopCheri – Namibia’s Flame
Top Cheri a contortionist from birth, steps in and sets the nation on fire with every single that she drops.
Local entertainer Monica Pinias, also known as TopCheri, was born in 1990 and raised in Walvis Bay. Monica furthered her tertiary education in Windhoek at the College of The Arts, where she studied TV Production. During her second year of studies, TopCheri dropped out of college after losing her sister who was her only source and supporter. She grew up as the only sister among seven brothers.
TopCheri found herself in the media world when she got a job as a journalist for a local newspaper. The quality that sets TopCheri aside from the other musicians is her marketing skills. Monica is a very good marketer and she managed artists before being part of Namibia’s music industry. The singer uses social media to market herself.
TopCheri is multi-talented, she once starred in a local movie called Captain Kalola as Nangula. She also published two books, her first book is titled “Relationship” and her second book is titled “Love, Sex and Flight Tickets” speak about the modern Namibian lifestyle. Just like Tiffany Haddish said once, “I did not just show up out of now where, I have always been in the business walking around smiling,” and I definitely believe that TopCheri can say the same or relate to this spoken words.
Her debut album titled “FERTILE” is about bringing out something new from within her. On the first song of the album “Star”, she shares her story of home. The song is more like a roller coaster of her life story. The album will feature an appearance from big-name artists such as Tate Buti, Exit, Adora, Athawise, King Elegant, and Princelou among others. Top Cheri is out to set the nation on fire with her debut album which will be launched in her hometown Walvis Bay.
