NSK: Namibia’s Greatest Showman
From Radio, to theatre, to choir, to TV, to Print and stage performances and Choreography, Noabeb Se Kind is basically a jack of all trades.
We all know him as Mr Moro Middag, but when we sat down with him, we got to know a whole different side to NSK the multitasker.
NSK who has been in the entertainment industry for almost a decade now, says; he thought he had done everything and was planning to leave Namibia and expand his brand to South African audience but was taken aback and humbled by the sudden explosion of his brand. The performer who has gigs lined up until late November sure does seem like he is doing something right in the industry right now.
The multi-talented star who recently featured in a TV Commercial with The Namibian Breweries Limited, had his first one man show which he described as groundbreaking, will be MCing one of the biggest musical events the 081every1 festival and the Windhoek Spring Fiesta and the Bush Party.
When asked to comment on the social media outrage on his post with the Ondangrr “incident” NSK had this to say “what angered me is; I mean when I got into the industry; I put in hours and hours of research and practice, hours turn into months and into years and this is where I am right now. What I am saying is, I did my homework for every event, for wanting to break into the industry. What I am seeing right now is upcomings that are lazy, I cant be okay with that because all the top MCs, LIKE Shay or myself; our backgrounds and were we come from, we’ve had to put in hours and hours of research and practice and sacrifice. You cant go to a town and tell me you did not know how to pronounce the name of the town considering how simple it is. Even if it was difficult, you practice it.”
In regards to developing eager MCs, NSK who ran a school that trains young MCs says that unfortunately due to a lack of funding, he had to give up on that dream but would definitely revive it once he has bagged the sufficient resources to effectively operate. He also urges presenters to be original in their sound and names and slang, as it is important for not only for ones growth but the overall national growth. He also urges Namibians to appreciate other forms of entertainment as well, from choir, to theatre to beauty pageants.
The father of a 9 year old who gushes when he speaks of her seems to be very hands on his daughters life and is co-parenting with his baby mama. About his personal relationships, NSK is currently single and he says that he is very picky about getting close to anyone after his last relationship which lasted many years. He says that he is still reeling from the relationship emotionally, financially and mentally and is now finding it hard to commit because almost everyone he meets is overshadowed by his former relationship.
“The only time I will thrust another woman in the public eye will be when I get married, but that is not happening anytime soon.”
