NFA Fires Frans Mbidi But Barry Rukoro Keeps His Position

Namibia Football Association (NFA) president Frans Mbidi was fired this morning with immediate effect by the NFA executive committee. According to the NFA, Mbidi’s dismissal is due to gross mismanagement.

This are exciting times for Namibian Football, 2 weeks ago Peter Shalulile fired the ‘Brave Warriors’ to 2nd place as Namibia keep their hopes alive for Afcon 2019, meanwhile The u23 team prepares to face Angola next month as they seek a spot for Afcon u23 which will be held in Egypt next year.

However The NFA executive committee fired Frans Mbidi, while Barry Rukoro on the other hand still works for NFA, what’s even more interesting is Mbidi wrote a letter to FIFA two months ago stating Barry’s contract at the NFA has lapsed yet he still works for NFA, which perhaps played a role in him losing his job.

The executive committee seems to be comfortable  in firing Frans and keeping Barry, a decision which could comeback and haunt the nation in the future, considering the fact that this was someone who was suspended by COSAFA not too long ago.
