Lize Ehlers bags: Artist of the Year award
Songstress and Director of Song Night, Lize Ehlers, was the biggest winner last Saturday night at 2019 Namibian Annual Music Awards, taking home the prize for Best House, Artist of the Year and Best Female Artist of the Year. Her three newest honors bring her career total to 8 Namibian Annual Music Awards. The NAMAs were held on Saturday, the 7th of September 2019 at the Dome, Swakopmund.
“It is a dream come true. I was first nominated as Female Artist of the Year with my 3rd album Change in 2015. This was my second time to be nominated in this prestigious category. I am so honored and happy about the win”. Lize Ehlers said in an interview with Wamboesbelike.
The songstress won a total of N $250 000 in prize money. Lize launched her 6th album in August and will be doing shows throughout to get people to know the music.
In an industry full of talented artists like Namibia, the singer says she is motivated by her husband, kids, family, friends and colleagues. “We are surrounded by brave, kind, talented people. The stories I want to tell need a medium and music is an incredible medium. I also use the stage through acting, directing and poetry but music seems to have the furthest reach.”
The future looks brilliant and bright for the Jazz vocalist as she plans to do more House, Dancehall and Afro Fusion songs to reach a bigger audience. The songstress says “I owe this to my supporters.”
