European Football to Return In the Coming Weeks

Good news for Football fans as three of Europe’s major leagues associations have announced dates on when their leagues will resume. Ligue 1 is the only league that has decided to shut down.

Bundesliga

The German Bundesliga was the first league from Europe’s Top 5 leagues to resume play as the teams played behind closed doors. Borussia Dortmund started off the return of the Bundesliga as they beat Schalke 4-0, league leaders Bayern Munich ended the weekend off as they comfortably beat Union Berlin 2-0.

La Liga

La Liga could return on the 12th of June with football being showcased every day for six weeks to finish the league before August. La Liga teams will also be allowed to do five substitutes in a game.

Premier League

The Premier League hasn’t announced a return date yet but their Chief Executive Officer, Richard Masters, has announced that it will hold a meeting with club captains, managers, and medical experts before coming up with a return date for the matches.

Serie A

Italy is among one of the nations that have been hit hard by the Coronavirus suffering a high number of deaths. For this reason Serie A might take longer to resume. However, some of the Serie A teams are back in training already.

The Champions League and the Europa League is set to return in August.
