Egypt Wins Their First Ever U/23 AFCON Trophy
Egypt has claimed their first-ever U/23 Afcon trophy after they beat Ivory Coast 2-1 to clinch it on home soil. Egypt will also feature at next year’s Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The home team took the lead in the 37 minute thanks to Karim El Iraky, Egypt looked set to have won the match only for Ivory Coast to equalize in the dying minutes of the game thanks to Aboubakar Doumbia. Ramadan Sobhy scored the winner in the 116 minute.

The Afcon Best XI is largely dominated by players from Egypt and Ivory Coast, South Africa who only have one player in the XI beat Ghana 6-5 on penalties to clinch the third spot, South Africa, Ghana, Ivory Coast, and Egypt will all feature at next year’s Olympics.
