Brave Warriors Call Up Blackburn Defender Ryan Nyambe
Blackburn Rovers defender Ryan Nyambe has received his first call-up to the Namibia national team as part of their senior squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt this summer.
Ryan Nyambe has made 97 appearances for Rovers, and will finally link up with the Brave Warriors for a Training Camp in the United Arab Emirates and Tunisia before their AFCON campaign kicks off against Morocco on June 23rd followed by neighboring encounter against South Africa on June 28th and their final group game against Ivory Coast on July 1st.
Speaking to the Namibia Football Association, Nyambe said: “I’m pleased to finally join the family. It has always been coming, I have been thinking about it for a while and now I am ready and raring to go! I feel honored to play for my country and excited to meet the squad soon.
Nyambe is the only Namibian playing professionally in England. He joined Blackburn Rovers academy in 2014 and became a regular member of the senior squad in 2015. Blackburn Rovers won the Premier League in the 1994/95 season. They are former club of Premier League top goal scorer Alan Shearer.
