Billboard Music Awards 2019
The 2019 Billboard Music Awards was held at MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas on the 1st of May.
With Kelly Clarkson hosting the evening’s ceremonies for the second year in a row and Cardi B leading the nominees with 21 noms in 18 categories, she was enthusiastic to receive multiple awards (and absolutely dominating the acceptance speech game); it was a massive night for many A-listers. Drake set a record with the most wins ever, taking home 12. He became the most-awarded artist in BBMAs history.
Opening the annual awards show Taylor Swift & Brendon Urie, the musicians charmed the audience with a sugar sweet performance of their hit song “ME!”
Mariah Carey accepted the 2019 Icon Award after performing a medley of her greatest hits, saying, “Icon? I really don’t think of myself in that way.” She thanked God and her loyal fans for helping her achieve lasting success against the odds as a “lost interracial child.”
Jonas Brothers, “Jealous,” “Cake By the Ocean” & “Sucker”. Jonas Brothers brought their triumphant 2019 comeback to the Billboard Music Awards, with their first awards show performance since officially reuniting earlier this year.
After opening the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, Ariana Grande has returned to the BBMAs this year with a rendition of “7 Rings.” Grande has had a wildly productive year, both albums debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200, with the songs “Thank U, Next” and “7 Rings” both spending multiple weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Madonna and Maluma performance “Medellín”, and it was steamy. The pop icon and the Latin superstar hit the stage at the (MGM) Grand Garden Arena During the sexy performance, the pair recreated scenes from the single’s dreamy music video.
The 2019 Billboard Music Awards delivered a fantastic spectrum of live performance, ranging from diva-house medleys to thrusting rock, to gospel tributes and to recently passed icons.
