2017 Trending Moments on Social Media
What a memorable year it has been, fun filled moments, laughter, drama and shocking videos. As we take down the Christmas trees, change jingle bells soundtracks, prepare for Janu-worry, and scan through back to school shopping lists, lets have a moment to look back on the most memorable highlights of 2017.
Wamboes Be Like
We cannot, without a doubt leave ourselves out of the list. We are known to only bring you the best. Trending social headlines, entertainment news, feeds, memes and videos. As we entertained you, we too were left entertained. The fan base made it all possible, each and every like, share, comment and follow. The Be Like team enjoyed entertaining and being part of all your notifications. If you haven’t already make sure you follow us on all our social media platforms.
NAMAS 2017
An event well anticipated and fun packed. This year’s NAMAS starred the famous model Bonang, a good change and much appreciated surprise. Our very own local talented presenters Mappz and Uejaa brought us world class stage presence. Performances were well excecuted and the well deserving winners proved worthy in their respective categories. This event, was well planned, with some minor glitches that could be overlooked. Be reminded Gazza made a speech about the liberation struggle. Who said the NAMAS where only about music? All in all the Nama awards left us well entertained.
Miss Lovaboy
She wants a guy that will take her high when she needs to get high and guy to take her low when she needs to get low. A woman that clearly knows what she wants and sings it with confidence. The name of the artist is unknown but the title of the song is Lovaboy. The music video received so much fame on our Facebook page. We are hopeful our unknown artist will release a follow up soon. Maybe next time she will want a guy that will make her go upside down when she wants to be upside down. A Remix with Get Rich would have made us end the year on a very high note.
schini Sale
Can we be in agreement that the Foshini sale left many of us in awe. Quality clothing made affordable is a dream, but when clients get injured, it becomes news headlines. Only the brave managed to walk out with valuable items and a few survivor of the stampede suffered emotional distress. Few cases of minor injuries were reported, but getting hospitalized in the name of clothing gave a different meaning to “Freedom fighters”. A sale of all sales, one that made warriors out of shoppers.
Sakeus
Once upon a time, a guy met a girl. The guy fell in love with the girl and married the girl. Girl met another guy, cheats and gets exposed. Who exposed the girl? The guy named Sakeus. Drum line please. Was it a Telenovela? No, but this love triangle was one of the biggest highlights of the year.
Sheehama and the Coach
Do what Sheehama? Do what? Ninga shike Sheehama? Ninga shike? With friends like those, no one needs enemies. Are the oka Sheehama printed T-Shirts still in production? The true identity of the man behind the infamous sex scene will ever be a mystery. As twisted as it may be, Sheehama your video is well archived and will be so for a very long time.
The Dogg Perfume Challange
In a smart way, The Dogg reminded people that smelling good is a priority. Could be an indirect message to a close friend. We get you Dogg, we understand and know you did the right thing. “Is Namibia hierso”. The “tsatsaleka” challenge however did go viral and many local perfume departments became sold out. People nowadays, look good and above all else, also smell very good. A mission well accomplished by the Dogg.
Get Rich
Heavy jewelry, oversized shirts, and trousers worn extremely low. Cool or not this artist became very popular and is one of the most recognized all thanks to his video “Get Lich” oh sorry we meant “Get Rich”. Although he gets mocked a lot Get Rich is one the most trending and highly discussed topics on social media. We still didn’t rule out the possibility of deliberate wackness for social media exposure, but whatever it is, he’s doing the right thing and he knows it.
Renting Is for Poverty
Slay queen moment went wrong when a Windhoek girl (name unknown) uploaded a video of herself ranting about guys that live in their mothers houses. The video received a combined 70k views on Facebook and Instagram within two days. In spite of the negative comments she received, we can only count the hits made.
Omunye Goes Flakka In Swakopmund
Never in a million years would the Windhoekers ever be ready or think Swakopmunders could go as hard as they did. Lit it was. We are yet to see a Windhoekers dance on a street light with a glass in one hand while the other is holding onto the street light so many meters above the ground. Windhoek is yet to recover from this defeat. As we Omunye into 2018, everybody should lift their chairs high and dance into their new years resolution.
Meriam Kaxuxwena
Too many wonderful moments. Ever constant, ever confident, ever entertaining. Meriam Kaxuxwena is an obvious trend setter. She always manages to stir up something in each and everyone of us. Good and bad reviews, imitations, challenges and obvious high numbers of circulated videos. This model has captivated us. From the many wonderful videos, the hungry lion she fed her family dog was the highest ranked. Sad truth is the dog died a few days later. Meriam is an obvious queen of social media. May we all stop what we are doing now, just to applaud and thank her for making 2017 a remarkable year on social media.
Namibia is indeed the land of the brave. As we strive to excel in all thing media may the spirit of Harambee never fail us as we continue to support and enjoy all things local in the entertainment industry.
